Saracen Horse Feeds have a unique partnership with Kentucky Equine Research

A Unique Partnership

Saracen Horse Feeds has always been dedicated to producing nutritionally sound, innovative formulas and providing customers with accessible personal service. These commitments led Saracen to Kentucky Equine Research (KER), founded by Dr. Joe Pagan in 1988.

Saracen is the exclusive KER Team Member in the UK, thus joining an international network of horse feed manufacturers devoted to the advancement of equine nutrition. From its headquarters in central Kentucky, KER conducts extensive research in equine nutrition and exercise physiology with each research trial designed to improve the health and well-being of all horses.

As such, Saracen formulas, feeding systems, and product development programs are underpinned and complemented by the world-renowned research and expertise of KER.

Kentucky Equine Research - An introduction

KER was founded in 1988 when Joe Pagan, Ph.D. realized that the information generated from research was not reaching the individuals who needed it most: feed manufacturers and horse owners. Since the company began, filling that void has been a priority for KER.

The company accomplishes this in several ways. First and foremost, it serves as a consultant to feed manufacturers. KER nutritionists work with mill owners and managers to formulate top-quality feeds that complement typical forages found in different geographical areas. KER now works with feed manufacturers on six continents: Australia, Asia, Europe, South America, Africa, and North America. In 1999 KER set up a second office in the Southern Hemisphere. Located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, this location serves that entire continent as well as the company’s interests in Asia.
