Here are some of our achievements along the way to the present day. Not an exhaustive list, rather a flavour of some landmarks in our history.

1989 - Saracen launched as the Lillico branded horse feed

1994 - Saracen attracts its first export client - Sheikh Zayed (President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi), Royal Stables

1994 - Saracen launches Veteran Mix, the FIRST diet specifically tailored to meet the needs of the older equine

1997 - Opens distribution centre to facilitate growth

1998 - Saracen becomes its own company within the Lillico Group

1998 - ILPH (International League for Protection of Horses) uses and endorses Veteran Mix and Show Improver

1999 - Saracen launch Bio-Life 2000, a unique feed balancer in mix form

1999 - Alltech bioplex minerals and yeast incorporated into diets

2000 - Saracen and Hallway Feeds in Lexington, Kentucky, forge an exclusive manufacturing partnership

2001 - Saracen becomes the exclusive Kentucky Equine Research (KER) team member for the UK, joining an international network of feed manufacturers dedicated to equine nutrition

2001 - Lead the market again with the launch of Enduro-100, used by many leading endurance stables in the UK and Middle East

2001 - Nutritional research into the effects of glycemic response leads to launch of new concept feeds such as Level-Grow, Re-Leve and Super Fibre Pencils

2004 - Re-develop the Veteran Mix with The Home of Rest for Horses

2004 - New production facilities finished, showing commitment to the UK horse feed market

2006 - Launch Stallion Plan and Mare-Care, tailored nutritional care specifically for breeding horses

2007 - Launch Donkey Diet, the first feed specifically tailored to the nutritional needs of donkeys. Developed in conjunction with the country’s leading carer for donkeys - The Donkey Sanctuary

2010 - Launch Shape-Up a specialist low calorie feed for good doers, laminitics and those who need to watch their weight

2010 and onwards, we will continue to research and formulate a range based on our customers’ needs
