How much in a Scoop?

It has to be said that the best option for knowing how much you are feeding your horse is to buy a spring balance from a hardware shop, or your feed merchant, and weigh your feeds properly.

The traditional scoop is the most common way of determining feeding rations, but sizes and shapes do vary. Combine this with two different peoples scoop sizes (level or heaped) and the variation in weight can be as much as 50%.

As a helpful guide, the chart below is based on a traditional round hand-bowl, filled level.
